What's in my brand new BLOG!

Hello all you lovely people out in cyberspace land and welcome to my new blog. Exciting!

I'm Simon Messingham and recently I won the very prestigious special prize of 'Britain's least travelled man'.

I've started this new blog page for a very special reason. A rather exciting reason: I can't work out how to access my old blog. This one here: http://messinghamhead.blogspot.com/

So Sedentary Gengleman is a new blog! An exciting new blog!

I've got lots of things to tell you, as I go about my daily gentlemanly business of being sedentary. Thus this first blog is a brief outline of all the subjects I may tackle, at my leisure.

You have all probably too much information already about House Trafalgar, a little film I wrote that Mark Tew and James Lane have made, so I'll give that a separate blog all of its own: http://housetrafalgar.blogspot.co.uk/. Only don't think I won't keep referring to it. Oh no. That will be ongoing. Especially our next screening which is at Brighton's Moviebar on Monday 3rd September.

I may tell you about my new theatrical piece: 'The Ealing Inheritance' which I'm currently working on with some lovely thespians. It's a comedy and we are soon to unleash this upon an unsuspecting world.

There should be some stuff about 'Children of Avalon's Ring' - a site dedicated to a very odd novelisation I found in tucked away in a suitcase in my attic. CoAR appears to be a forgotten ITV children's programme shown once only in 1973 before being pulled from the schedules. I have become an avid collector of 'Avalon's Ring' memorabilia and material - rare though it is. I have also tracked down some of the actors from this series - those still living, and hope to interview them. My ambition is to curate the finest 'Children of Avalon's Ring' archive available anywhere on the computer world wide web system.

One of my many ambitions is to form my own Glam cover band. As I can't play anything very well, I'm going to have to be the singer. And that's as far as I've got at the moment. My band is called 'Velvet Leander'. It's my ambition that this blog will summon up everything else I need to 'live that dream' and turn Velvet Leander from 'Virtual' to 'Real'. I also have another band I want to form of which I'll be the singer called 'Leeds 6' which specialises in playing new songs that sound like goth music from the early 80s. You'll hear all about this too.

As if that wasn't enough, there will also be interesting musings and ramblings on such diverse issues as being a Dad of twins in a provincial town in the UK, films, writers and writing, getting on a bit, food, films, not being fashionable and, of course, all the latest technical hints and updates about how you can hone your skills with the 'computer'. Webs and clouds and other metaphorical jargon terms for your electrical devices.

It's possible I might post some of my 'fictional' work. As you know, I'm one of Doctor Who's most famous and leading authors, responsible for some of the most memorable and terrifying monsters that ever graced the merchandising spin-offs in the 1990s and early 2000s. Who could forget the insect thing from 'Strange England'! The ultimate doomsday weapon that is 'The Face Eater'! And the insane crazed egomaniac magician character from 'The Tomb of Valdemar!'

Hard to believe I know but I have many stories and writings that have never been published. So I might let you in on a few magical writerly secrets and let you read some for no money. Reason alone to stick with my blog, I'm sure you'll agree.

I'd really like to review other people's stuff too like films and books and plays and music. Even if I'm not in them, I'd probably still review them.

Exciting! I know I've got some pulses racing here. So join me on the adventure of a lifetime.
Love you.
